Reflections on 3 Years

It was my three-year anniversary at Menno Place last week. I didn’t remember the day, but my CEO shared a card with me congratulating me and thanking me for my contributions.

It’s kind of nice to reflect on how much I’ve learned about the health care industry for seniors as well along with the special aspects of marketing to and for seniors. The best part of my job in the past three years is the wealth of relationships that I now enjoy with individuals in the final third of their lives.

I am taking a Master’s level course called, “Aging Matters” and it has created a lot of opportunity to expand my thinking on seniors and their contribution to our lives and societal health. Here’s a quote from a book I recently read that gives clarity to what has been a growing feeling over the past three years…

“When one thinks of elders, one should not think of frail, dependent people… elders can leave us a multitude of legacies, including how to live sacrificially, how to appreciate traditions athat teach us to value history, how to treasure the moment, how to confront our materialistic tendencies, how to value life from the womb to the grave, how to maintain a robust health and intellect for as long as possible, how to live successfully with and learn from chaos and difficulty, how to live courageously, how to persevere, how to express faith in love, how to genuinely worship, how to live on a budget, how to forgive and how to live in unity.”
